While Harvard Innovation Labs celebrates the work of LATINX Inventor Elena Medo, the company she founded in 1998 relentlessly continues its actions against her. The LA Business Journal recently covered the recent news that Prolacta Bioscience has announced its transition to the pharmaceutical industry, noting:

"Prolacta is the brainchild of serial entrepreneur Elena Medo, who has devoted much of her life to improving care for premature and critically ill infants. “

Meanwhile, clinical trials call into question whether Prolacta's existing products convey any benefit over formula-based products.

The Washington Post recently covered the legal battle against Medo, speculating that her subsequent company (Medolac) likely filed bankruptcy due to the overwhelming cost of the Prolacta legal battle.

It begs the question, WHY would Prolacta CEO Scott Elster continue to pursue litigation against their founder, who is now 70 years old and retired? Certainly, no longer a potential competitor to Prolacta, while they enjoy a "...valuation in the range of $100M to $500M as of Nov 3, 2011".

Last but not least, we would like to nominate Elena Medo for Prolacta's Fearless Girl award... part of their Women’s Leadership Development Academy. It would take a lot to endure more than nine years of litigation from a company she founded in her very own home.
