Well, it's been a long time since my previous update to this petition.
And from the looks of things as 2025 has started fresh in January, this may end up being my last & final update for this petition.
On January 16th of this new year, Nintendo has unveiled to us not only their newest & latest console - the Nintendo Switch 2, but they've also given us a sneak peak to the first game for that console - a brand-new installment to the Mario Kart series.
Here is their trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itpcsQQvgAQ
From what we can see from that trailer, this new Mario Kart game takes place in environments with multiple track routes, and 24 racers competing - 2 times more than the 12 racers competing in races within Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 8, & Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
And it seems the majority of fan favorite Mario Kart characters are all coming back for Mario Kart for the Nintendo Switch 2. From what people can assume, the following characters will be included in Mario Kart Switch 2, with brand new designs for all the Mario characters to boot.
- Mario
- Luigi
- Peach
- Daisy
- Rosalina
- Pauline
- Toad
- Toadette
- Yoshi
- Birdo
- Donkey Kong
- Wario
- Waluigi
- Bowser
- Bowser Jr.
- Koopa Troopa
- Shy Guy
- Lakitu
- King Boo
- Baby Mario
- Baby Luigi
- Baby Peach
- Baby Daisy
- Baby Rosalina
New details on the Nintendo Switch 2 & possibly the new Mario Kart game for said console will be unveiled when a Nintendo Switch 2 Direct comes on April 2nd of 2025.
However, with all things considered, with the announcement of a Nintendo Switch 2 AND the unveiling of a new Mario Kart game for it, this can only mean one major thing.
As much as I would've loved to see Mario Kart 8 Deluxe receive new characters like Nabbit & Dixie Kong, new karts like the Wild Wing & Flame Flyer, & so on, the announcement of the Switch 2 & the new Mario Kart game for it assures that there will most likely be no chance for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to receive any more content - characters, vehicles & customizations, & tracks alike.
It's sad that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass has come to an end, the era of Mario Kart 8 & its Deluxe version have concluded, and that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will likely not receive anymore content anytime soon.
But from what we've got from the Booster Course Pass from Winter 2022 to Fall of 2023, we sure got a lot of new tracks, and especially a good number of new characters.
It was a special treat that we, especially those who've purchased the Booster Course Pass on the eShop rather than through the Nintendo Switch Online service with the Expansion Pass, are now able to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as Birdo, Diddy Kong, Petey Pirahna, Funky Kong, Wiggler, Kamek, Peachette, & most of all - the 1UP girl & mayor of New Donk City herself: Pauline.
And with a new Nintendo Console & especially a new Mario Kart game for it coming soon, we'll all be very happy to finally move on to what's to come from the Mario Kart series, while still keeping our love for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe alive. While the new Mario Kart for the Switch 2 will most likely NEVER have the same or higher amount of tracks as the 96 we've got in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it may hopefully not only bring back underwater, gliding (or replaced with flying), and anti-gravity, as well as items from a number of previous Mario Kart installments like the Mega Mushroom & others, it may hopefully may bring some new features and elements to the new installment that'll make it a step-up from its predecessors.
So, with all that said, I just want to take the time and say to all of you Mario Karters all over the world...
Thank you.
Thank you all for supporting me in this endeavor to convince Nintendo that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe should have more content than what we had before the Booster Course Pass. If it weren't for the Booster Course Pass, we would've not only never had all those tracks (ESPECIALLY the ones exclusive to Mario Kart Tour, which is still ongoing, but may discontinue soon), but we would've never been able to have Pauline, Funky Kong, Diddy Kong, Birdo, Petey Pirahna, Kamek, & even Wiggler & Peachette as playable characters added into the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe roster.
But it's now time to soon say goodbye to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, & hello to the Nintendo Switch 2 & the newest Mario Kart that is being made from the ground & wheels up.
So with all that said, keep on racing Mario Karters. Look forward to the Nintendo Switch 2 & the newest installment of the Mario Kart series.
