A small request for your support
Many litigants and appellants are unable to personally appear before Information Commissions because of distance, financial constraints, employment obligations, age, disability or other genuine difficulties. In such circumstances, matters may sometimes be heard in the absence of the concerned party, leaving the litigant unable to effectively present their case.
There is therefore a need to make online/video-conferencing hearings a regular and accessible option, alongside physical hearings, so that litigants can participate in proceedings without unnecessary travel and expense.
Just as virtual hearings have become an important part of access to justice in various courts and tribunals, a similar facility should be effectively available in Information Commissions as well.
I have started an online petition requesting the concerned authorities to consider mandatory/regular availability of online hearings along with physical hearings, so that justice remains more accessible, affordable and transparent for ordinary litigants.
If you agree with this principle, please take a minute to sign and share the petition with others who may benefit from such a facility.
Every genuine signature adds support to the representation.
