I am absolutely amazed at the support this petition is receiving! Thank you to all who are signing and sharing to help amend this law! Today, I reached out to the Detroit Free Press as they published an article in April regarding skunks with rabies and I have also sent a direct email to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Director of Legislative and Legal Affairs, Trevor VanDyke. In my email, I not only included the details of the petition, but also stated: "Permitting qualified, licensed, wildlife rehabilitators the legal right to rehab skunks will not only reduce the amount of hazardous, illegal, novice rehabilitation attempts from the public, but also give the Department of Natural Resources accurate statistics on required animal intake reports regarding all animals in need of care. Please help eliminate risk, and consent to this logical solution in granting trained rehabilitators the right to rehab wild skunks." I will continue to update our supporters with any contact we receive from the media and/or the Michigan Department of Natural Resources!
