Hello Neighbors,
We've witnessed the truth in San Francisco during this week's APEC conference and earlier this year at Wood St. after Governor Newsom's demand - cities can clean up encampments when they truly prioritize it.
The responsibility lies with us, the ones who elect our officials. We must hold them accountable for following our policies and public safety laws.
It's been three years since Oakland passed the Encampment Management Policy, but it's been ignored. Our homeless crisis has transformed into an open-air drug market, illegal dumping, human trafficking and an environmental crisis. Throughout the city, we witness abandoned burned-out vehicles and RVs. These issues are less about homelessness and more about drugs.
Join us in demanding that Oakland's city council enforces the laws and cleans up these dangerous encampments.
Here's how you can help:
- Share this petition online and with your networks.
- Attend Oakland's City Council Meetings to demand enforcement of the EMP.
- Chip in to support Neighbors Together Oakland and our organizing efforts. Thank you. It's time to act, especially as we enter an extremely important election season - our best chance to prompt the city council to respond.
Best,
Neighbors Together Oakland
