Donate $25 for a Roofed Rink in Mississauga
Please help me support and elect Athina Tagidou for Ward 3 Mississauga Councillor because she has supported us since day one and is committed to bring back an equal quality or better outdoor refrigerated roofed rink for the Community of Ward 3 and Mississauga with construction to start next year.
You can donate $100 and get a 75% rebate meaning it costs you $25 and this money goes towards signs, flyers, posters, and advertising.
As long as you are eligible to vote in Ontario, until October 24th, any contribution between $100 and $300 gives you a 75% rebate from the City of Mississauga delivered July 2023.
So, $100 costs you $25 for a roofed rink. $200 costs you $50. $300 costs you $75. See how it works?

Since the beginning, Athina Tagidou has fought to fight the current City Council and City Executives to stop the destruction of a $6,000,000.00 only public outdoor refrigerated hockey rink in Mississauga and it had a roof! They destroyed it May 2021 as you can see here on Global News:
Ward 3 Councillor Chris Fonseca let it get demolished colluding with City planners by refusing to tell us for 3 years what you and I would have told her - KEEP THIS RINK!! IT’S THE ONLY OUTDOOR HOCKEY RINK WE HAVE - PLUS IT HAS A ROOF!!
The City told me they now have $3.7M for a rink of some kind…maybe skating only…no boards…no hockey…and MUCH SMALLER - A BROKEN PROMISE by Mayor Crombie, Ward 3 Councillor Chris Fonseca and City Executives!
They said it would cost $6M to include the roof so basically they destroyed a $6M RARE public asset! WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!
We asked for EQUALY QUALITY OR BETTER replacement rink and they are giving us a poor attempt and the current Councillor is not trying at all to give back the community what they deserve leaving the City with no refrigerated hockey rink for all of Mississauga.
City planning documents revealed their research noticed new immigrants are not signing up paying for Mississauga hockey league play and ASSUMED they are uninterested in skating or hockey.
Well, maybe it’s because hockey is quite expensive to play and why we need free access to community rinks. If kids can try skating or hockey at low cost outside with their friends and really love it then parents can spend their hard earned money and sign them up for lessons and league play with confidence. You don’t buy a $2000 guitar for a child when unsure they will enjoy playing it. You start with a low cost guitar and take it from there. Same with skating and hockey - play outside free on a refrigerated rink with your friends and see if you like it. If it has a roof, you can play every day from December to March. Remember, volunteer rinks only last 3-5 weeks and that is too short of a playing window to fall in love with a sport.
We need change on City Council and a voice that will support the people of Ward 3 and Greater Mississauga to bring back one of the best outdoor refrigerated rinks in the GTA.
I pledge my support to Athina Tagidou for Ward 3 Councillor who has helped me since the beginning to fight for the only public outdoor hockey rink in Missisauga.
AND WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
To battle the 12 year incumbent councillor, who gets tens of thousands in donations from businesses outside Mississauga, we need small donations from as many of you as possible so we can print more signs, flyers and buy local advertising.
