2013 - still no action on restoring guidance program at MASD

Since we first started this petition, many positive developments have occurred in the Mars Area School District. Twice now in board meetings it has been stated that new math teachers will be hired to once again bring down class sizes and allow for improvements in the math curriculum. The teachers and school board settled on a contract and educational continuity was maintained for all of our students. However, the very serious problem first addressed by this petition has not yet been corrected: there are still no guidance counselors dedicated to the Centennial Building and Middle School. The negative impact is being felt everyday and action needs to be taken. Even if you already signed this petition, share it among your friends and urge everyone you know to take action. Until we hear anything to the contrary, we have to assume that the district plans to continue with this unsustainably high student to counselor ratio that was created in the 2012-2013 budget.
