Now besides the threat of houses blocking the trackbed in Acrefair, there is now a threat of the trackbed getting blocked in Llangollen, directly East of where Llangollen Railway currently terminates, on the other side of the River Dee Bridge in Castle Street. There are currently proposals by Denbighshire's Llangollen Four Great Highways consultation to install some new steps and a ramp on the other side of the River Dee Bridge. The current designs would block off the trackbed, preventing any possible Eastward extensions to Ruabon. They need to be altered in order to safeguard at least a 6-metre wide clear green corridor immediately alongside the river bank at railway trackbed level over the entire length of the land between the East face of the railway bridge and the Woodlands Medical Centre to allow for a future reinstatement of a single-track standard gauge mainline railway from Ruabon to Llangollen station. Additional information of the plans can be found on this weblink: https://www.denbighshire.gov.uk/en/community-and-living/community-development/levelling-up-fund/four-great-highways/four-great-highways.aspx Please also get in touch with the planning team to express your concerns about the plans at this e-mail address: fourgreathighways@denbighshire.gov.uk
