How can you choose an aged care home if you don't have all the information?

One of the most important pieces of information to know is how many care staff are employed and when they are rostered on. This information is not available to the consumer and the aged care providers rarely, if ever will give you this information, even when asked!  

Now Federal Member for Mayo Rebekha Sharkie has introduced a Private Member’s Bill to mandate the publication of staff-to-resident ratios by job description on the Federal Government’s My Aged Care website.  

The Aged Care Amendment (Staffing Ratio Disclosure) Bill 2018 aims to provide greater transparency for families moving loved ones into residential care so they can make more informed choices about the facilities they consider.  This is fantastic news and a move in the right direction.

I urge you to support Rebekha Sharkie (drop her a line) and to contact the Federal Minister for Aged Care, Ken Wyatt to let him know that you support this bill.
