UN's special rapporteur on racism calls for Australian political parties to condemn racism

If you had any doubt about how important our shared position is, the U.N. special rapporteur on racism and xenophobia Mutuma Ruteere recently called on Australian political leaders to condemn racism. He said, "I call upon mainstream political leaders to denounce and censure this kind of divisive and racist rhetoric particularly when made by members of their own political parties and urge those sections of the media to resist the tempting descent into racist and xenophobic stereotyping rhetoric and scapegoating.” We can help bring this view into the political mainstream by demonstrating to the major political parties that his position is shared by the majority of Australians.
