When accessibility is part of a new planning, especially if it’s an integral part of the design, it generally costs about the same as, or only slightly more than, an inaccessible design. The more buildings and spaces that are designed to be accessible, the more accessibility enters into the public consciousness and becomes expected. When are accustomed to seeing individuals with disabilities able to get around easily, they’ll be more inclined to think of access is a way of life, rather than a privilege or a concession to political correctness.
