Family, let me give you a straight, honest update — no spin, no BS.
The UK Government has officially rejected the petition again.
Yes… despite the history, despite the cultural value, despite the economic impact, despite the pure common sense of protecting Notting Hill Carnival as a national treasure.
I appreciate every single one of you who pushed, signed, promoted, shared, donated your time, your money, and your heart.
But we need to talk plainly and transparently about the numbers — because our community deserves clarity.
📊 Where We Stand Right Now:
592 signatures
30,479 petition views
934 shares
56 promoters
£366 spent on promotions
23,621 purchased views
146 signatures from paid promotions
Leading sources of signatures:
WhatsApp: 44%
Promoted views: 21%
Change.org homepage: 10%
Facebook: 2%
Organic traffic: 2%
Instagram: 1%
20% of signatures came from unknown external sources
Let’s call this what it is:
The community interest is strong — but Change.org is not converting views into signatures or results.
The return on paid promotion simply does not match the effort or the financial sacrifices supporters have made.
🚫 A Clear Message: Do NOT Spend Money on Change.org Promotions
Family, I need to be very clear about this — respectfully, calmly, but firmly:
Please stop contributing money to Change.org promotions.
The platform is absorbing funds, but the signatures are not matching the spend. The performance isn’t reflective of the community’s genuine support.
Instead, if you want to support the actual work, the roadshows, the calls, the meetings, the research, the academic outputs, the lobbying, and the groundwork needed to take this to Parliament and cultural institutions…

📞 Next Steps: Taking This to the Right Voices
Now that the government has rejected the petition again, the strategy shifts from petitions to people.
I’ll be reaching out to a few prominent figures who have the experience, influence, and historical grounding to guide or amplify this movement — including:
Dawn Butler MP
Diane Abbott MP
If you know anyone with established links in government, cultural institutions, the arts sector, policy advocacy, Black cultural organisations, or media — please reach out to me directly.

🔥 The Mission Continues
This rejection doesn’t stop anything.
It simply confirms what we already know:
Carnival has always been a people-powered institution.
And people-power is exactly how we will protect it.
Thank you for standing with me,
Thank you for believing in this movement,
And thank you for spreading the word with clarity, integrity, and purpose.
We move.
Always.
