Dear followers,
I hope you are doing well. I was thinking about testing an idea that I had recently. What I propose to do is look at a case scenario for beach lifeguards. I will take Ayr beach in South Ayrshire as my example and propose the idea of providing lifeguards and coloured flags for the duration of the School Summer Holidays. This is only a 7 week period and I think it would be a good start.
My idea is for all of us to send in messages to the council asking for such a service to be provided. I propose the following text to be used:
Dear South Ayrshire,
I would like to voice my concerns about the safety of users of Ayr beach. I believe the Council should trial the use of a lifeguard service in the School Summer Holidays. I would like to request that the council starts discussions with the RNLI to provide this service. I also request for the provision of coloured flags to mark where the safe bathing areas are on the beach.
I fear that if someone were to have an accident when in the sea, or were to become victim to a riptide or unexpected strong current. There would be no-one who could save them from drowning. I therefore request that the Council take measures to mitigate this
Therefore. In addition to providing the RNLI lifeguards in the School Summer Holidays. I would recommend the provision of coloured flags as well as safety signage that is clear and helpful
I note that such interventions are already successfully used at other beaches in the UK in locations, such as Cornwall and Brighton and Hove. So, there is clear proof that these methods work and can be affordable.
I therefore have signed petitions already regarding this issue, one of which is linked below.

I hope that you can take the time to properly consider these matters,
Yours faithfully,

I hope that if this method works, we can use it to target other local authorities and beaches. Places that could be looked at are Aberdeen, North Wales, and Largs.
Do remember to sign my Parliament petition here.
As always, take care and stay safe, and together we are awesome!
