Petition updateMake audio description available on ALL films, TV programmes and streaming servicesSeeking audio describers, writers and producers who create audio description for TV shows and films

I've been campaigning for more AD on UK channels and streaming services for the past 3 years. I have seen some improvement and many broadcasters are exceeding their quotas which is great but I still feel more can be done.

As part of my campaigning, I've written blog posts/articles on the importance/benefits of AD. Now I'm keen to research and understand how AD is created, recorded and distributed.

I'd like to know how and when the channels/production companies decide which shows/films will get AD (and why not all shows/films have it), how it gets written/recorded and how it is uploaded to the channel/service.

I've found there is plenty of content out there about what AD is and how it benefits blind/VI people but not much about the practical and financial side of how AD is produced.

To mark AD awareness day on 16th April, I'd love to write a blog post about how AD is produced, the challenges that it may face and the reason why not all content has some level of AD and whether we can change it.

I'd like to speak to audio describers and people who work on accessibility for broadcasters/production companies to find out more and raise awareness of my campaign.

Would you be available/interested in helping me with this. I'd just like to know your insights of being an audio describer and how the AD production works and maybe point me in the direction of others who make the decisions on AD.

Please continue to sign this petition and share far and wide!

If you or someone you know works in creating AD and would be happy to share your experiences, please email me at rockfordisability.blog@outlook.com

I look forward to hearing from you soon

Kind regards

Emma
