Today is the first day of the New Year. We haven't gained a single signature since my last update yesterday. My goal for this New Year is to double our current signature of 43 at least (though we should have already gained 86 signatures but we didn't). Good if everyone could do as much as they can as I feel like I shouldn't be the only person doing anything. I'm doing my best with these updates as they make this petition easier to find as it moves it up in recency for the tags system and gives more words for the search system to find it. As well, they could show 16 and 17 year olds know their stuff with I'll be 17 until May. After May, I'll be legally an adult and I feel like I learned a lot about the government before then. I know quite a bit before now. I could admit I might not know everything and there's always something new to learn. Everyone could always learn something new, regardless of their age. Older people should know more simply because they have lived for longer but there is no age where someone should know everything. With college and people having a long career in a particular field, a person with a degree and/or a long career in something would likely know more about it than someone who doesn't have a degree and/or a long career in it. Like nobody knows what it's like to be a 16 or 17 year olds today but for people who are currently 16 or 17. Everybody should know what the government looks like. Giving 16 or 17 year olds the right to vote allows them to learn a lifelong skill in voting early on and encourages them to get more involved in our government and learn more about it. They could then be more likely to watch debates to help make a more informed decision. Then we could have more hands on government education in schools since some high school students could be able to vote. The youngest people who could vote would be sophomores in high school. I know that's a lot (and probably not a lot of people actually read all of that) but I feel pretty passionate about it and these petitions would be better if you show some passion.
