Faculty restrooms and facilities are in horrible shape. There are only a few scattered in the main building. The toilets do not flush properly, the pipes leak from the walls, there is always overflow (water, urine, feces, and toilet paper) on the floor in most of them, and we do not have enough to serve the number of females who work at the high school. These are the original restrooms built when the building was first constructed. What do you suppose would happen if this were the ESC? Oh wait....it would never get to this point at the ESC. And by the way the elevator for the physically disabled students and faculty is not working. Administration expects teachers and students to just deal with it. The elevator in the main building is out of commission. Why? You may ask, because it's old and students who have no disability pack into it with their friends as if is a ride at a local carnival. There is not one single principal watching this elevator. But they have the time to huddle up 3 or 4 in a group laughing and cackling during class change. How does this happen when our school houses special needs students and older faculty / substitute teachers who rely on this elevator to change floors. If a special needs student has an accident while traveling the stairways I am sure the district can expect law suits. Our S.E. students are crammed or dumped into classes in large numbers and a times there are more students than they have adults (aides) to attend to them. Someone is dropping the ball at home teaching their children to respect not only equipment that is to be used for special needs students but also school property in general. I don't fully blame the students, LISD has no follow through on any rules or regulations of any kind. If students break the rule again and again they only talk to them. The student body at LHS knows this and that is why our behavioral issues are on the rise. The time to teach someone about taking responsibility and consequences is when they are still considered a child. Once they turn 17 they are considered an adult and that's when law enforcement gets involved. Basically LISD is condoning their actions and postponing the inevitable. LISD needs to serve these SE students as skillfully as they collect revenue for "serving" them, and I'm talking to the administration at the schools as well as the ESC. Come on "professionals" earn your pay! Get it together Longview. Stop ignoring the obvious.You do realize this affects students who have been injured while playing sports for the district. Where does all of that money and sense of urgency go when the shoe is on the other foot? Hmmmmm...??? Hey LISD Administration!!!! Are you listening or do you not care? Huntin' ain't no fun when the rabbits got the gun. Is it? PS...DO NOT BLADE THE CUSTODIANS OR MAINTENANCE for these issues. They do the best they can with the materials provided. So LISD lets just keep spending my tax dollars to build more schools and not use the money to fix the current problems teachers, and students are having to deal with. Use our money to FIX our existing schools before you run off and spend my tax dollars on frivolous things. Teachers and staff of LISD once again thank you for trying to give our children an education. The time has come to fix the sub-par working conditions you are having to deal with. Help me take out the trash and bring me to a seat on the board for district one. Vote out the chumps who use the position on the board as a social status. Put real people who care about education and the teachers, staff, and children on the board. By taking a stand as a community is the only way to correct this corruption. I will not stop fighting for the children and teachers and will fight for you and get rid of the cancerous cist they call a superintendent.
