So occasionally I like to look at the LISD web page and see what job openings are available. So looking at it today I have noticed something standing out and slapping us in the face. I have often spoke about our special education departments failures and lack of management, and by looking at the current job openings I can visually see an issue. Out of the 83 jobs posted on the LISD website 14 of the positions open are for special education instructors and specialist. So that means 14% of the open positions are for special education. So this tells me that our special education director is failing us. Let’s take Hudson Pep for an example. They only have one job opening for a teacher. Why is this you may ask? Because of the success and leadership this school has and because the teachers enjoy their job at this school so they have a higher retention rate. Most school job openings on this list average 6% from each school, but by looking the majority of our issue is our special education department. Joyce Thomspon it is time for you to be replaced. For many years now you have driven our special education instructors and students into the ground. I have spoken with over 60 parents who have filed TEA complaints on you, and have pulled their children from our district schools due to your lack of intelligence. How does the school board not see teachers, staff and students running away from our special education department? Folks the numbers will never lie, yet each year our part-time superintendent allows this to happen. The time is now to protect our children and staff. Please continue to spread my word, and join with me, and I promise we will be heard. Also looking at these 83 open job listings I can tell you that we are losing more teachers in our south side schools. But as you all know Shan is now on the board and we should see those numbers get better as she has more time to research. We need to fix our failing district one step at a time. On a different note I am hearing a lot of talk about Sue Wilson being replaced at Hudson Pep by Sarah Shepard If this is going to happen watch the job openings for Hudson Pep raise. This is not who we need in this position. Since the whole teacher debacle early last year, she has been blamed for not being able to control her parents and has had a target on her back since. I find it humorous that the ESC blames her for angry parents. Word of advice part-time superintendent Wilcox. If Sue Wilson is replaced by Sarah Shepard you will be the only one to blame for the hundreds of pissed off teachers, and parents. Once again I appreciate all the support you guys give me, and promise you we will win. Truth and honesty always prevail. God Bless you all.
Thank You,
Jason Bates
