I had the privilege this morning to speak on the phone with District 5 candidate Shan Bauer. Shan is a 1999 graduate of Longview High School and is wanting the focus of the board to be back on the children and teachers in a positive manner. Also to increase support where needed for all students and teachers. She would also like better communication not only between the board and the community, but with students, teachers and staff as well. Shan told me that she believes right is right and will not ever stray from what is right for our teachers, children, staff and community. This is the type of individuals we need on our school board. Someone who puts the best interest in our schools. I fully support Shan and hope that people who follow me that are in her district show up to the polls and place Shan where she needs to be, and that is on the LISD school board. I encourage you to meet her tonight at Stamper Park Starting at 5:30 and ending at 7. Go by and visit and talk with this amazing young woman, you will not be disappointed. I look forward to serving with her on the school board if I am elected. I have been told by some that some of my blogs need to be toned down because it’s starting to push people away because they are on the attack, and I would like to openly apologize for this. I am a very passionate person who believes in what I am doing, and sometimes I need to be told when to calm down. I want our children, teachers and staff to have a positive work environment. I have always been known as a hell raiser growing up, and as I have gotten older I have settled down…..a little…, but my intentions are always for what is best for our district. I believe that Shan is that person you can count on to do what is best for our district. Thank You, Jason Bates
