The US government has taken a stand on some of the disregarded recommendations from Syria-based development organizations.

The Compliance Communiqué improved clarity on some pressing questions related to authorized activities and transactions related to earthquake relief efforts in Syria that would otherwise be prohibited by US sanctions.

The Compliance Communiqué informs individuals, organizations and governments on the eligibility of activities related to earthquake relief efforts in Syria, as far as concerning US sanctions:

• Donating money and raising funds for earthquake relief efforts in Syria
• Sending money and goods to Syria
• Providing professional services to Syria
• Processing earthquake relief financial transactions
• Engaging as NGO in humanitarian Aid to Syria
• Engaging in humanitarian assistance to Syria after GL 23 expires
