Your voice matters and we want you to be heard by Prime Minister Trudeau and Minister Carla Qualtrough but signing this change.org petition is simply not enough! The official House of Commons petition needs thousands more signatures but Jan 24!
Minister Carla Qualtrough (Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion) has the power to create and pass legislation that will effectively allow self-employed folks in Canada to retroactively become eligible based on their gross income. This is the fair and right thing to do! Minister Qualtrough needs to know how many Canadians are truly affected by this situation and the only way she will have the concrete evidence is if we have tens of thousands of signatures on our House of Commons petition. That’s where you come in! Please take two minutes to click this link and sign Petition e-3066. If we come to the table with the numbers, the government will not be able to ignore us. Let’s show them we mean business and that their position of power is threatened - we won’t forget this come next election season!
The Green Party is taking this issue seriously. Not only has MP Paul Manly agreed to read our petition in the House of Commons, but Green Party leader Annamie Paul is holding a press conference today at 2:45pm est regarding this very issue. You can watch the press conference on Annamie Paul’s Facebook page. We appreciate the support of the Green Party and we welcome other parties to get on board! We know that we have strength and power in numbers.
