STATE LIQUOR HEARING ON BUDDHA BAR THIS THURSDAY (JUNE 9)

Apologies if you already know this, but we wanted to tell everyone who signed our Change.org petition that the State Liquor Authority will consider the license application of Buddha Bar this Thursday, June 9. The hearing is due to start at 10:45 A.M. at 317 Lenox Avenue, 4th Floor. Community Board 1 unanimously opposed Buddha Bar’s application and CB1 member Jeff Ehrlich will be presenting the board’s resolution to the SLA. But the outcome is far from certain. The Full Board of the SLA relies heavily on the opinion of the Administrative Law Judge presiding over the 500 Foot Hearing. (This is the forum for establishments that would operate within 500 feet of three or more other liquor-serving establishments.) This is the community’s main chance to influence that opinion and defend our neighborhood’s quality of life -- simply by showing up. We know the time and place may be inconvenient for working people who live in Tribeca. But it’s just a 20-minute subway trip on the 2 or 3 from Chambers Street to 125th Street, then one more block to 317 Lenox. Hope to see you there! Thanks again for your support! Tribeca Neighbors
