Petition updateLet me Create an Independent NHS Workforce Ombudsman – Protect Staff, Protect Patients! This Is Bigger Than a Petition. It’s Time to get Personal.

Hello everyone,

I want to speak from the heart in this update, because this campaign is not just a policy idea or a system change. It’s about people. Real people. People who have been dismissed, ignored, harmed, or broken by systems that were meant to protect them.

Since launching this petition, my inbox has been bulging.

Full of nurses, doctors, porters, and admin staff.

Full of families who lost trust in the NHS long before they ever lost a loved one.

Full of stories that should never have happened but did because "learning" means nothing without positive steps towards resolution.

Some of you told me you were pushed out after raising safety concerns.

Some said you were made to feel like the problem, not the unsafe practice you were reporting.

Others said you watched patients suffer because no one listened when staff tried to warn them.

And too many told me you are still carrying the silence, shame, and trauma years later.

These messages are hard to read, but they are exactly why this campaign must continue.

An NHS Workforce Ombudsman is not bureaucracy, nor another layer of paperwork.

It is a lifeline for staff who speak up, for patients who rely on safe care, for families who deserve truth instead of excuses.

Every signature on this petition represents someone saying: “This is not good enough. We deserve better.”

And I want you to know: I hear you. I see you. And I am fighting with you.

What gives me hope is that this community is growing, not (yet) because of headlines, but because people are tired of suffering in silence. Tired of watching harm repeat itself. Tired of being told “lessons will be learned” when nothing changes.

Together, we are building something powerful: a demand for safety, fairness, and dignity that cannot be ignored.

What you can do next:*

❤️ Share the petition again — you never know who needs to see it.

🗣️ Tell your story in the comments if you feel safe — your voice can help someone else feel less alone.

📣 Keep pushing this message outwards — change happens when people refuse to look away.

Thank you for your courage.

Thank you for your honesty.

Thank you for refusing to give up.

With solidarity and hope,

Andrea x
