Thanks to you for raising awareness of the campaign and signing. Together, we have created some great coverage (see links at end).
On February 26th, they may bury 150 years of rugby tradition.
If England Rugby and Prem Rugby vote to close the door on promotion and relegation — replacing it with a closed franchise system — it won’t just change a league structure.
It will decide who rugby is for.
No more clubs fighting their way up through grit, community, and belief. No more stories like Ealing Trailfinders, Bristol Bears and Exeter Chiefs — clubs built from the ground up, supported by real fans, that earned its right to compete at the top.
Just a boardroom. A golden ticket. A velvet rope.
Rugby union in England has always meant something because the path to the top was open. That openness is what drives investment in the Championship by clubs like Ealing Trailfinders. It’s what keeps communities connected to the sport. It’s what makes the journey worth watching.
A closed franchise system doesn’t grow the game. It shrinks it — for everyone outside the chosen few.
On February 26th, we find out if the people running English rugby still believe what the game has always stood for.
We do. Do they? Sign & share this post and the petition: https://c.org/M7r6jmP8XM
