Dear supporters of Annet Negesa,
some time has passed since the start of the information homepage (www.support-annet.org), the petition on change.org and the crowdfunding campaign on Betterplace.
But some progress has been made and so I would like to share some news with you.
After telling her story in German TV and being published in newspapers worldwide, it was very clear that Annet would not be able to return to Uganda.
Uganda's government is bringing up again a discussion of establishing death penalty to people living in a homosexual relationship and especially members of the LGBTIQ community suffer from violent and brutal attacks. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_Uganda).
It was clear that Annet, being a public and now worldwide known person will not be willing to put herself in such a life threatening danger.
That's why Annet applied for Asylum in Germany in November.
And the very good news is that the German authorities have officially granted Asylum some days ago. So she got a kind of early Christmas present.

What does this mean?
Annet is now permitted to stay in Germany and can start a new life. And of course full medical treatment which is very important for her. As you may have seen in the various documentaries and articles the surgery that Annet underwent without any proper information before and without a mandatory medical treatment after, her body suffered serious problems. So it's a big step forward that these issue can now be treated on a professional basis.
Beside that she will be able to attend to a German course and to start some business education.
And that's exactly the point where we want to continue with the crowdfunding campaign. Although the official asylum status includes very basic financial support, we would like to think a step further ahead and think about what Annet might help when starting her education. And that's where we are convinced that it would be fantastic to support her with a little extra during that time. So this will be the purpose for what we would like to use the money. Therefore any further donation is highly appreciated.

Thanks again for all you support, have a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
