A very big thanks to nearly 9,000 people signing and supporting this petition. It means a lot to me to see this overwhelming support for this issue.
I have received some inquiries from journalists and have been following up with them. During our conversations, I clarified that my father was not granted this land under ‘ex-serviceman quota,’ but rather acquired (purchased) it in 1995. Land in Vaderahalli village was originally granted by Karnataka Government to several people in 1978, some of whom subsequently sold and moved on.
I have also been following stories in the media on this topic. Here is a link to 10 recent stories that highlight the inner workings of the Revenue Department in Bengaluru, Karnataka
The delay in registering the paperwork is clearly a case of "Justice delayed... justice denied." This despite an order from High Court that asks officials to “Clear appeals for khata, RTC within 3 months.”
Some folks have also enquired and commented about the land-grant to ex-servicemen. Karnataka, like many states has a policy of granting land to war veterans, martyrs, and other ex-servicemen (link). However, after such land is granted, veterans have to run from pillar-to-post requesting officials to approve title to their land. Impacted folks must join hands and raise this as collective issue, like this @change.org petition.
