🆘 AVAS is killing all the dogs!!! 🆘

The Town of Apple Valley and the management at AVAS do not give a you-know-what about the animals. They are now unlisting dogs and refusing to give the public status on the dogs or to advise if they are dead.

It is time to bypass them. We need to make our voices reach the county representatives. Please call and email the following people. Suggested speech and email text is below.

TO THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO:

On April 9th, Apple Valley Animal Shelter announced they had a confirmed case of canine distemper and were halting all adoptions and intakes for the next 10 to 14 days. Shelter staff have expressly refused to answer questions about the status of any and all dogs in their care. Requests made over the phone are diverted to email and the blanket email response is that each and every dog is “no longer available.” Those who ask for further clarification are told to consult the shelter’s monthly disposition report which will be issued in early May.

Based on these responses, I can only assume AVAS is killing or has already killed every single dog in their custody, and is hiding this from the public by being purposefully evasive.

I would also like to direct your attention to the fact AVAS does not consistently vaccinate dogs. Many times the shelter notes will state vaccinations were unable to be administered, or will indicate dogs did not receive vaccinations until days after intake. Shelter visitors have reported seeing employees administer vaccinations as dogs are being led out to rescues and adopters, and seeing employees spray unknown substances on the floor in front of kennels as well as hosing walkways down with water that flows into dog kennels. Employees are rarely ever seen wearing gloves or other PPE.

How is this providing a “Better Way of Life” for the animals in their “care”?

Please stand up for these animals and direct AVAS to halt this insanity. They cannot be allowed to conduct a mass slaughter behind closed doors.

Respectfully,
