KU Parking Hears Your Voices: Taking Steps Towards Solutions

Alexandra HardeeLawrence, KS, アメリカ合衆国
2015/10/25 — UPDATE: KU Parking has heard your voices, and is taking steps towards solutions to the parking issues we are experiencing here at KU. *What's Being Done? The KU Parking Commission held their first meeting of the year this past Thursday. One partial solution that was proposed and approved was to allow a select amount of graduate students who are employed by the university to park in red lots (50 permits in lot 61, 30 permits in lot 52). Allowing employed grad students to park in red lots will free up more spaces in yellow lots. Grad students are on campus for 8+ hours a day, so those are parking spaces that are taken all day. KU Parking will continue to monitor red lots and their occupancy counts and allow more grad students to exchange their yellow permits for red permits if there are more spaces available. *What's Next? The Parking Commission is sponsoring an open forum to receive feedback on parking issues. It will be held on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27, at 3:15PM. in the Big 12 Room at the Kansas Union. Individuals may speak at the meeting or send comments in written form to Margretta de Vries, Parking Commission secretary, mdevries@ku.edu. If you have concerns and/or ideas of more possible solutions, this is an opportunity to communicate those to the Parking Commission. You can also provide feedback to KU Parking through an online survey, which they included in their e-mail they sent out on Friday, October 16th. Here is the link if you cannot find it in the e-mail: https://kuoirp.wufoo.com/forms/q1hdjjob0u8xpzm/ Thank you all for expressing your opinions and helping to spread awareness of this issue!
