Dear Supporter, We are very happy to announce that last night the Marion council passed the following motion 9 votes to 2: “That Council guarantees the retention of the current Marion Cultural Centre Building and its services.” Thank you to Councillor Jason Veliskou for putting the motion forward and to Councillor Bruce Hull for seconding the motion. We also thank all the elected members who listened to the community on this important issue. A huge thanks to all of you who made phone calls, wrote letters to the newspapers, voted for sympathetic councillors, came along to our rally, signed the petition and generally offered your words of support and encouragement. We did it together. We have saved an iconic building and beloved community space. What a wonderful win for the Marion community and the wider city of Adelaide.
