Hello everyone. I hope you are all well. Today (November 2nd) marks the 3rd anniversary of Josh returning to his home here in Cornwall. Something that, by signing his petition back in 2014, you helped to happen.
Josh continues to thrive both physically and emotionally. He has a wonderful team of carers around him who help him enjoy his day to day life. He attends a great little school at which he has achieved some certificates in everyday education and life skills.
Josh is now free of all of the medication he was on three years ago, and I believe that this has improved his appetite, ability to forward think and his general wellbeing.
Josh thoroughly enjoys his days out with his families, the freedom of the beach and visiting family at their homes.
There are still many families fighting to get their loved ones closer to home and out of hospitals or Treatment and assessment units (ATU's) Josh has proved beyond doubt that with the right support, the correct bespoke care package and the right environment children and young adults like him can thrive and live the life they deserve and have the right to. The best possible treatment and care is to be where the heart is...Home.
Josh turned 18 last month. Here is a short film celebrating this and dedicated to those still away from home, who we keep fighting for and in memory of those no longer with us. Thank you everyone. Phill Wills
