6,000 signatures to #SaveVicHealth, one month from the Victorian election. Thank you.

We've just hit 6,000 signatures supporting the campaign to keep VicHealth independent and strong, and the timing couldn't be more important.
The Victorian State Election is one month away, on 28 November. The State Government has not introduced legislation to absorb VicHealth, and with parliament no longer sitting, it can't happen before the election. Your support helped make that possible.
But the work isn't done. VicHealth's future will be shaped by what happens on 28 November and which parties hold power in Victoria's upper house.
The Greens have committed to VicHealth's independence as an election priority. The Coalition have previously indicated support, and with their influence potentially growing after 28 November, we need that commitment clearly on the record. But not all parties or candidates have made their positions clear, so every candidate conversation helps us an opportunity to understand where they stand, strengthen support, and reiterate the crucial contribution VicHealth makes to people in the places we live, work and play.
What can you do?
Talk to candidates: In the coming weeks, candidates are listening to what matters to voters.
If they knock on your, you see them at a neighbourhood market or street stall, or you can spare 10 minutes to write an email, ask them:
"If elected, will you keep VicHealth independent and strong?"
Then explain why VicHealth matters to your community and how their position influences how you vote.
Contact Candidates: Find candidates in your electorate at VEC.vic.gov.au, and send a short email about why VicHealth is important to keeping your community healthy and well. Check out some key message ideas at SaveVicHealth.org and explore VicHealth's website and social media for more examples of their initiatives and partnerships! Even if you have written to candidates before, positions can change - especially around elections, so now is an important time for you to renew your advocacy.
Spread the word: To every one of the 6,000 people who has signed: thank you. You've helped show what community voices can achieve. Now, with one month until the Victorian State Election, we're asking you to speak up again, and share this petition to help us demonstrate just how many Victorians want to keep VicHealth independent and strong, well into the future.
Thank you for standing with Friends of VicHealth.
