Met with Thai and Zahn while passing 500 supporters

Hi everyone,

I met with Representatives My-Linh Thai and Janice Zahn at the Mercer Island Farmers Market this morning, alongside several other wonderful petition supporters. We discussed why we started this petition and the issues HB 2266 is causing for Mercer Island.

Both representatives seemed surprised to hear how the bill restricts cities from controlling where Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) is built and prevents them from setting operational safety requirements. A highlight of the meeting was when another constituent performed an AI fact check that confirmed our points, which they then shared directly with Representative Zahn.

I provided both representatives with a flyer containing the petition link. They said they will look at it and expressed interest in continuing this discussion. To keep this momentum going, please continue sharing the petition with your friends, family, and neighbors. Increasing our signature count will help motivate our representatives to act.

Moving forward, my next goal is to obtain endorsements from City Council members and clarify what specific changes the Council has already requested from the legislature. This will help us refine our community’s request with full transparency.
