Dear Neighbor,
Thank you for signing our petition to stop the Signature Club East development. Your signature told us you care about Accokeek's future—and right now, we desperately need you to take the next step.
We sincerely appreciate the 46 people who helped promote the petition on Change.org. If you want to help support the legal fund, please give through Gofundme.
Right now, one family—the family whose home will be directly impacted by this development—has shouldered the bulk of our legal defense costs. They're fighting for all of us, but they shouldn't have to fight alone.
This isn't just their battle. It's ours.
When developers bulldoze 16.9 acres of forest, when stormwater floods our neighborhoods, when traffic on deadly Highway 210 worsens, when our schools become even more overcrowded—we all pay the price.
If just 200 of our 800+ petition signers donate $25, we'll reach our $10,000 goal for legal defense. That's the cost of two meals out. But together, those contributions become the legal firepower we need to hold developers accountable.
On October 21st, several Accokeek families will stand before the Prince George's County Council to demand a pause on this development until we can verify it's lawful, built to code, and won't endanger our roads or overburden our infrastructure. They need to walk into that room knowing their community stands with them—not just in words, but in action.
If you’re able to join us on the 21st, please wear green in solidarity.
This is our chance to send an unmistakable message: Accokeek stands united. We will not let powerful, monied interests steamroll our community. We will fight for responsible, community-driven development.
But we can only do that if we band together and share the burden.
Can you contribute $25 today? If you can give more, we're deeply grateful. If $25 is too much, give what you can. Every dollar brings us closer to leveling the playing field against developers with unlimited resources.
This won't be our last fight—but it can be the moment we prove that Accokeek won't back down.
Will you stand with us?
With gratitude and determination,
Keep Accokeek Green
