Hi neighbor,

THANK YOU.

Today's hearing was enlightening. Neighbors who want to Keep Accokeek Green showed up. Although the board voted to approve the developer's application, we are not done! This is a long process and the community will exercise its right to appeal today's decision. We will also be raising funds to continue with legal representation in the interest of the community. WE are not going away. 

Fifteen (!!) of us concerned residents including one as young as 8 years old, and a 17 year old high school student voiced their opposition with clarity, power and conviction. Many spoke of the traffic stress, increased pressure on 210 which is already the state's most dangerous highway. Others spoke about preserving the semi-rural character of Accokeek which drew them here in the first place. Still others spoke about the careless manner in which this process has moved forward without community input. Then there were technical and procedural objections raised by the attorney representing the interest of the community. 

We left the hearing disappointed but more determined to fight for a more inclusive plan that actually meets the needs of the community instead of working against it.
