Increasing focus on Catholic Church Accountability

This is amazing - your support for this petition and especially sharing it with others (250+ of you!) has us over 2000 signatures and building momentum in just 1 week! And it feels timely - every day the focus increases on the role of the Catholic Church in Canada it becomes clearer the Catholic Church feels no accountability. Just this morning the head of the Catholic Church in Canada showed this loud and clear: "Archbishop won’t commit to asking Pope for residential school apology" (https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-archbishop-wont-commit-to-asking-pope-for-residential-school-apology/ Instead, a group of First Nation leaders are heading to Rome to meet directly with the Pope - that last thing in the world they should have to do, and the first thing the Canadian Archbishop should do - but won't.

And it was shocking to read (see attached article) about how the Catholic Church in Saskatoon was able to raise $28.5 Million for a new cathedral, all tax-free and subsidized by Canadians, while raising only $34,650 to meet their commitment to pay Residential School survivors, and then claiming they had done their best. This is not what our charitable tax system was designed to do.

Please continue to share this petition (especially on Twitter), raise awareness and demand action from the biggest institutional roadblock in Canada to addressing the trauma from the Residential Schools.

Thank you!
