Even though the suspect claimed the dog was his, ownership is never a license to abuse or kill. Animals are not property to be discarded; they are living beings who feel pain and fear. This brutality must not be ignored.

We have also learned of yet another case in Ifugao, where a dog was reportedly killed by his owner over an alleged dispute involving chickens. Even though the social media post showing the incident was deleted, the reality of the violence remains. A public apology cannot undo a life taken, but accountability can.

These incidents are not isolated. They are part of a pattern of cruelty that has affected far too many innocent animals. We demand justice for all the innocent lives who suffered and died because of abuse and ignorance. Silence enables cruelty; accountability protects the voiceless. Their lives mattered and this cruelty must stop.

Animal cruelty incidents like these continue to draw public outrage across the Philippines, including other cases where pets were beaten or killed without justification. These stories underline the urgent need for stronger enforcement of animal welfare laws and better protection for witnesses and victims alike.
