Dear friends and supporters of Leonard Peltier, since our first petition posting, there have been incredible and important developments in the campaign for his freedom, as he enters the 47th year of an incredibly cruel and unjust imprisonment.

As you know, on January 28, Leonard became positive with COVID-19. He was immediately put into isolation, although he received no special care and in fact was lacking drinking water for a few days! But at the end of 15 days isolation, he wrote by email that he overcame the virus. We are so grateful! But a word of caution, lingering symptoms can still arise. What Leonard needs is to be released immediately to return to his home in Turtle Mountain.

Good news on the organizing front. A press conference was held in Tampa Florida, one hour from Leonard's prison in Coleman. That was a breakthrough as significant media coverage has resulted, there was NBC, CBS to Democracy Now coverage and interviews with his attorney, former Judge Kevin Sharp.

Two key U.S. Senators, Brian Schatz (D-HI), chair of the Indian Affairs Committee, and Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT), have openly called on President Joe Biden to grant clemency to Leonard Peltier immediately. This is a great development! So much more is happening, too much to detail here. But we feel the power of your support, let's keep it up!
