Finance Minister Mike de Jong went from defending premiums in the past, saying they demonstrate to people that health care costs money to today saying it was unclear when MSP premiums might be fully eliminated... Considering that the government has a contract with Maximus until 2020, we know it won't be before then, if at all! You will still have to apply and prove your income. We must remind them that flat-rate MSP Premiums are unfair and does not address income inequality and does not ensure a sustainable health care system. Here is how you can help: 1)Email Mike today that you want wholesale change by Abolishing MSP Premiums in BC mike.dejong.mla@leg.bc.ca 2) Write to Christy Clark premier@gov.bc.ca letting her know that you want MSP Premiums abolished in BC! 3) Tell our Minister of Health, Terry Lake Hlth.Minister@gov.bc.ca. that we want progressive taxation policies applied to this broken system. 4) Send a message directly to the Premier via the BC Health Coalition http://www.bchealthcoalition.ca/what-you-can-do/scrap-msp-premiums ------------------------------------- FYI - Did you know that "over the past 16 years, our system has been reshaped to favour the top one per cent of households. How? Regressive taxes now make up 65% of the sum of all taxes paid by households and only 35% come from the progressive taxes, personal income tax --------------------------------------- THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT, when we first started this petition the government was not interested in having this conversation. Well we have them talking about it, lets get them "doing" something about it... not in 2018 but today!!
