I watched a documentary recently about Easter Island, a place that had always fascinated me as a kid. Now, as an adult, I was struck by the powerful message the story of Rapa Nui holds for us. The islanders were taking the trees with no thought about the effects, and prioritising social status and worship over food and shelter. Pretty much what we humans are doing now, right? If you want a reminder of what happened next, read on. It is fascinating....and quite terrifying too.
