Thank you to every one who has signed. As I write this we have gathered 1,353 signatures in less than two months. In particular I wish to thank those who have shared the petition with Facebook genealogy groups and other forums/social media.
One petition signer, who like myself lives in New Zealand, suggested to me that we present the petition in person to the Irish Catholic Bishops Conference in Maynooth, County Kildare. Obviously this was not possible for either of us, and I acknowledge that many of our supporters come from across the Irish diaspora, and that it is not possible for them either.
Currently, the Bishops Conference will receive an email whenever we pass a milestone (100, 500, 1000, 1500 etc). Presenting the petition in person would give an opportunity for conversation with them about the issues we have raised and to hear their response.
The Bishops Conference only meets at certain times each year, and I have no idea when their meetings are. If anyone is interested in presenting the petition on our behalf, you can use the contact form on my genealogy website (https://sallandsdtb.wordpress.com/contact/
Thank you once again,
