On Saturday July 16, Bulaq Abu al-Aila Misdemeanor Appeals Court ruled against Ahmed Naji’s motion for a stay of execution for the two-year prison sentence he received in February. The motion would have enabled Naji’s release pending his appeal before the Court of Cassation. As a result, Naji will continue to serve his two-year sentence until the time of his trial. The Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy continues to express its solidarity with Naji and its condemnation of his sentence.
