IAVA really screwed up with their false announcement that Gary would be included in the Commander-in-Chief forum and their later retraction to MSNBC's prior announcement that there would be a separate event. Veterans and other supporters of Gary Johnson are livid. I'd like to apologize if I got anyone's hopes up yesterday. My last announcement was started before their blog had been edited. We are now getting some press from the "The Hill" http://thehill.com/policy/defense/294210-vets-lobby-to-get-johnson-on-stage The worst part of IAVA's announcement is it gives every impression that they wish to manage us and their negative press rather than adhere to their non-partisan mandate and give every eligible candidate fair and equal treatment. This unfortunately means that we will likely need to follow through with our demand to have their 501(c)(3) status revoked. As many if not most of you are aware. The IRS cares little for online petitions. As you may also be aware the IRS has a history of unequal treatment of political groups even to the point of even targeting them for investigation. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/jun/5/irs-reveals-list-of-tea-party-groups-targeted-for-/ For this reason we are not specifically directing this petition at them, but to the media instead, and to people who are sympathetic to Gary Johnson and not as beholden to the major parties and the media. As we need to involve people who will hold the IRS accountable for their action in the likely event we need to submit the required paperwork. If you can think of any such people or groups tell me in the comments (with their email contact) and we'll add them to the list of "decision makers" Speaking of the required paperwork. I will begin drafting up a 13909 form very soon. It will be in the mail on September 8th in the event that IAVA continues on the path they are now on. Please refrain from any premature actions like submitting any official paperwork prior to then as we want to give them every possible opportunity to correct their mistake. If you haven't already done so please give IAVA whatever review and rating you feel they deserve on facebook. After you are done with the stick pull out the carrot and heap some praise onto the Military Officers Association of America for including Gov. Johnson in their recent Presidential Q&A. http://www.moaa.org/Content/Take-Action/Top-Issues/Currently-Serving/Clinton,-Johnson,-Trump--Presidential-Q---A.aspx Keep up the good work. Continue to share, link, and promote this petition. We must not let up. We will not let up! Not until Gary is on the shared staged of the Commander and Chief forum.
