For the the past 6 months Jenni from The Bee Collective Tasmania has been working on a book project with primary children in the Huon Valley Tasmania.

She has worked with over 40 children through 5 workshops to raise awareness about the importance of pollinators and pollination  - especially to food security.

Tasmania experiences pockets of some of the most disadvantaged communities in Australia. This project taps into those communities and focuses on capacity, rather deficit.

It allows children to be active learners- participating and shaping the learning journey as part of a broader book project.

Book publishing transforms children from learners/students into authors providing children with an opportunity to see themselves differently. This is especially important in places where children have been defined by deficit thinking.

The aim was always to produce a published book, which is now in its final stages.

As a grassroots driven project (no government funding), we have recieved support from local business and industry associations including, Rand R Smith Organic Orchards, Southern Tasmanian Beekeepers Association, Tasmanian Pollination Services, AgriFutures, Lyson Australia and Ashbeez.

We are now ready to invite the community to join us on this journey as we launch a Go-Fund-Me page to get this book to publication. $5000 is the goal. Small donations are welcome.

All donations over $50 will receive a copy of the book and all donors will receive an invitation to the book launch in celebration of World Bee Day on May 21.

Follow the attached link to the fundraiser - we would love to have you join us!
