Toxic do not spray within 25 meters of bees. These instructions from #Mortein are futile to bees who teach us how to share the environment. Our surburban high fences don't contain bees. Bees are free to roam they can easily be killed on neighbouring properties. Many of us have gardens comprising of lavender and flowering herbs in close proximity to the house. We plant to to attract bees not to have them poisoned.
The active ingredients in Mortein are #Permethrin and #Transfluthin. These chemicals are controversial because they are broad-spectrum chemicals killing indiscriminately; as well as the intended pests, it can harm beneficial insects including the bluebanded bee , honey bees, and aquatic life.
Symptoms of poisoning on children can include nervousness, anxiety, tremor, convulsions, skin allergies, sneezing, running nose and irritation, nausea, headache, muscle weakness, excessive salivation, shortness of breath, and seizures.
This mortein death guard constantly releases poison allowing chemicals to be inhaled and drift onto food we consume.
Ironically designed to kill flies and mosquitoes mortein also kills spiders that kill and eat mosquitos.
Bees need all the help they can get. Urban areas offer a refuge for bees where they have a variety of nutrition and are free from agricultural chemicals that commercial beekeepers find a challenge to avoid.
Consumers may think they are killing Louie the fly but your also killing Melissa the bee.
Mortein is an Australian brand of household insecticide owned by British company Reckitt Benckiser. RB is listed on the London Stock Exchange. It had a market capitalisation of approximately $72 billion as of December 2015.
We have to boycott mortein products. We have to starve the beast. Driven by profit society looses its wisdom. We must create communities where #bees can thrive than we can thrive.
Sharing this post will save the bees.
