The next Denver City Council President is expected to be Stacie Gilmore, who will succeed two-term President Jolon Clark of District 7.

The president is responsible for running the 13-member body’s weekly legislative meetings, appointing members to committees and sitting on all committees. 

The Council is scheduled to vote Monday during its legislative meeting, and it “is anticipated” that Gilmore will fill that seat.

Why should this matter to you? Stacie is the wife of Scott Gilmore, deputy director of Denver Parks & Rec, the agency that ordered the slaughter of the geese this year and last. That is a very problematic conflict of interest.. It is very important to understand that if Stacie Gilmore becomes City Council President, there will be no more resistance to Mayor Hancock's decisions as Mayor. As it stands, the City Council is the only thing standing between Hancock and whatever he wants to do in the City and County of Denver. Even if Stacie Gilmore recuses herself on votes relating to Parks funding, she will be privy to conversations happening in the Mayor's Office every day, and it will be impossible for her to separate what she hears being said, and how she votes and controls the agenda on the City Council.

It goes without saying that she will defend Scott continuing to kill the Geese.
