Hello lovely people,

I hope you are all well! Since our last update, a while ago, we have been working hard on the Leather Lane campaign to inform locals of the plans EKFB and HS2 have to remove the oak trees lining Leather Lane that form a vital bat corridor in the area. We have also stated that we are proposing plans to create an over bridge on the northern side to preserve these oak trees and an essential commuting route to 7 species of bat including the endangered Barbastelle bat.

There will be a meeting held next Monday 24th at the Great Missenden Memorial Centre from 19:00-22:00pm. Members of the public are invited to join this meeting via zoom or in person to present questions about the campaign and ongoing decisions/plans to the panel.

The zoom link to join ONLINE is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87115733545?pwd=TmZ3enlxS0NGcXVCVE9iZXEzeHpPQT09

Attendees will include:

-Alan Brackley from JNP Group to present our design option to you.
-Sam Watson (via Zoom) - our Ecologist.
-Jack Taylor (via Zoom) - from the Woodland Trust.
-Sarah Green MP will join via Zoom.
-Parish and Bucks Councillors.
We have invited HS2’s sub contractor EKFB to attend and present their design options; over which we have had a huge influence as a result of our surveys and ongoing campaign.

This meeting is a chance for residents to understand the campaign fully and participate in a transparent process for their voices to be heard.

If you'd like to find out more about the meeting via social media and confirm your attendance this way, please join the Facebook event page using this link: https://www.facebook.com/events/491459799069690/?active_tab=discussion

EKFB must, along with all construction projects, apply the Mitigation Hierachy: 1. Avoid 2. Mitigate 3. Compensate.
Our option, if viable, will AVOID the destruction of the remaining eighty-seven oaks and further fragmentation of the bat corridor.

HS2/EKFB's plans are not mitigation as claimed - they are leapfrogging straight to compensation - under the National Planning Policy Framework, they must AVOID damage at all costs!!

We know from local areas such as Bowood that HS2’s claims to reach “net zero” in terms of biodiversity loss will never materialise - saplings are dying, they will be eaten by grey squirrels which means they will never reach full growth.
