A new way to hold power accountable in Howard County

A few years ago, many of you signed this petition because you believed Howard County taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize powerful private interests while public needs go unmet.
That concern has not gone away.
The same core question is still in front of us: who should government work for? Ordinary residents and taxpayers, or well-connected interests that profit while the public picks up the bill?
That is why I want to invite you to be part of a new movement in Howard County: a campaign for ethical investing.
We are working on a charter amendment that would create an Ethical and Socially Responsible Investment Framework for Howard County. The idea is simple: public dollars should be invested in a way that reflects public values.
If you signed this petition because you were tired of:
taxpayers carrying burdens that powerful interests should pay, public money being managed without enough accountability, decisions being made as if fairness only applies to ordinary people,
then this campaign may speak to the same values that brought you here in the first place.
This is about democratic accountability. It is about responsible stewardship of public money. And it is about making sure Howard County lives by the values it claims to hold.
If you want to learn more or get involved, follow the campaign here: Howard County for Human Dignity
Then join us at our next meet and greet: RSVP here.
If you cant make it, join our mailing list for updates and learn more about this movement.
Thank you for standing up then, and I hope you’ll stay involved now.
