WE DID IT! 

Today, notice was received from the City of Gary Public Works Office they are moving forward with our request to approve and submit for review to the City Council. Several of the staff who are helping make this happen, have told dozens of memorable and warming stories of how grandma would call, was very engaged, very vocal, and one of the only citizens they'd met who could vocalize her position and advocate for her community with dignity, diplomacy, and care.

They have all been intrigued with our mission to honor her legacy and have been amazed with our commitment to continue her impact and contributions to continuing to believe in Gary and fight for our community. 

As we move forward, our request will advance with this petition to the Director of Public Works who is sending her team out to the 1500 block of Maryland and providing their approval for the request to advance to City Council. After that point, we will need folks to join us as we make known to come out to the council meetings and voice their support, share their stories, and help us drive this across the finish line.
