When Ministry of Transportation & Highways was run & operated by the people of British Columbia, this sort of negligence would not have happened. The Ministry had departments which coordinated with Municipalities and cities to prevent & predict the sort of disaster experienced in recent flooding. They also worked in cooperation with climate & weather experts. On a recent trip on the Upper Levels Highway & Vancouver Island during blizzard conditions, not one grader was seen in over two hours driving, and no sanding had been done. One contractor truck sped by but just appeared to be driving. The current storm had been predicted over 2 weeks ago.
It’s clearly evident that the Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure is sadly inadequate under the current structure. Contracting companies actually profit from disaster cleanup, whereas regular maintenance which provides safety & security to travellers & supply corridors, minimizes profits. Let’s put taxpayers money to use maintaining & building our Highways & Infrastructure rather than paying lawyers for negligence
