Dear friends and supporters of Holy Trinity Monastery and Seminary,

Thank you for your support with the initial petition dating back to November 28th, 2023. As it stands, we have collected over 3,000 signatures.

I would like to give an update on the proposed wind turbine projects:

The New Leaf Energy project proposed in the Town of Stark is awaiting a new DEIS impact study which should be ready by March 2024. We will not know the results until we see it. We pray that the report goes in the favor of the monastery and seminary. The petition, along with the signatures, was submitted to the Town of Stark.

Unfortunately, a new threat has emerged from Terra-Gen, a new developer that has signed agreements with landowners in the towns of Warren, Danube, Stark, and Columbia (totaling over 8000 acres). Terra-Gen is looking to develop both Solar and Wind Turbine projects in the areas surrounding the monastery.

While not opposed to solar projects, these additional potential wind turbine projects are a source of concern for Holy Trinity Monastery and Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary.

See the photo above. That which is colored in yellow is Holy Trinity Monastery property. That which is colored in green are property owners who have signed agreements with Terra-Gen.

Please continue to remember us in your prayers, and we invite you to contact the elected officials listed below to voice your opposition to these projects.

In Christ,

+ Bishop LUKE of Syracuse,
Abbot of Holy Trinity Monastery,
Rector of Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary
