Last night at School Committee, at least one parent spoke about the need for professional development around antisemitism. Several speakers spoke about racism happening at the high school. It does not seem that many of the petition issues were addressed, though much time was spent honoring the year of the turtle at Driscoll. Confronted with serious issues around Days of programs at BHS, the chair of the school committee walked out when things got heated. There seems to be concerns from the community. There seems to be division on the school committee. And it seems that the issues are being talked about but no concrete actions are being taken. Furthermore, it seems vaping was not even discussed. We need to keep this petition going to send a loud and clear message we will not allow these issues to be swept under the rug. Please share the petition with your community members and friends. Brookline High School has to do better. And the school committee needs to focus its energy on solving the serious problems that exist. Parading around in a turtle costume, while very fun and cute, school committee members making hostile comments to one another, these are not going to move our schools forward.
